Why do people cry?

Do we cry because we're sad
Or because we feel safe and comforted, sufficient to allow rain to wash over us unclothed by stiff upper lips
Is it a sign of something wrong
Or that yes, we'll be okay
It is the absence of tears that signals impending deadness
Presence of tears, inviting, watering, signaling Life is occurring

Isaiah 55:10 "Rain and snow fall from the sky and don't return without watering the ground. They cause the plants to sprout and grow, making seeds for the farmer and bread for the people." When i read this verse, i always think of the rain as God's tears and how her tears bring new life as they water the dead and dry areas of our hearts. As you allow the wells of tears within your soul to mingle with God's tears, the seeds of the new life and fresh beginnings that are planted within you will begin to sprout and bring abundant life and joy.
I'm still working on loosening my stiff upper lip, and I admire your courage to embrace the emotions within and let the river flow.
Praying for you.
